It is with great sadness that we announce that Sergei Vikharev, the man who began the journey of the reconstructions and restorations of Petipa’s ballets, has passed away at the age of 55.
This is a truly sad time for the ballet world as we have lost one of its biggest icons. Vikharev started a new chapter in restoring the art form of ballet to what it should be, even though all his hard work and efforts were not appreciated by everyone. However, he inspired many others to follow his example, including Alexei Ratmansky
Our thoughts, prayers and sincere condolences go out to Vikharev’s family, friends and all those who were close to him.
